Egypt T-bill auction, 9 March 2010: 364-day at 10.56%, down 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 March 2010, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.60% (up 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.97% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.56% (down 15 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 18.0bn against EGP 8.0bn on offer, 225% of the amount sought, and EGP 8.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.72% to 11.66%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.58%, so the government is paying 2 basis points less than twelve months ago.
