Egypt T-bill auction, 1 December 2009: 364-day at 11.37%, up 39 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 December 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.17% (up 5 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.37% (up 39 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 7.0bn against EGP 4.5bn on offer, 155% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.72% to 11.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.07%, so the government is paying 70 basis points less than twelve months ago.
