Egypt T-bill auction, 24 November 2009: 364-day at 10.98%, up 45 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 November 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.12% (up 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.54% (up 18 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.98% (up 45 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 11.1bn against EGP 6.0bn on offer, 184% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.1bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.72% to 11.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.26%, so the government is paying 128 basis points less than twelve months ago.
