Egypt T-bill auction, 8 December 2009: 364-day at 11.31%, down 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 December 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.07% (down 10 basis points), the 182-day bill at 10.44% (down 10 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.31% (down 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 12.8bn against EGP 5.0bn on offer, 255% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.72% to 11.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.77%, so the government is paying 45 basis points less than twelve months ago.
