Egypt T-bill auction, 11 August 2009: 364-day at 9.85%, down 48 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 August 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 364-day bill at 9.85% (down 48 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 7.3bn against EGP 3.0bn on offer, 245% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.0bn was accepted.
At 9.85%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 37 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.92%, so the government is paying 207 basis points less than twelve months ago.
