Egypt T-bill auction, 3 February 2009: 364-day at 11.53%, up 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 February 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.47% (up 11 basis points), the 182-day bill at 11.76% (up 30 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.53% (up 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 9.9bn against EGP 7.0bn on offer, 142% of the amount sought, and EGP 7.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.62% to 14.80%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 6.87%, so the government is paying 466 basis points more than twelve months ago.
