Egypt T-bill auction, 10 February 2009: 91-day at 11.46%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 10 February 2009, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 11.46% (down 1 basis point) and the 182-day bill at 11.65% (down 11 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 5.4bn against EGP 3.0bn on offer, 180% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 4.91% to 14.03%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 5.15%, so the government is paying 632 basis points more than twelve months ago.
