Egypt T-bill auction, 2 October 2007: 364-day at 7.46%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 October 2007, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 7.21% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 7.44% (up 37 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.46% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 10.0bn against EGP 5.0bn on offer, 200% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 7.44% to 10.21%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.69%, so the government is paying 223 basis points less than twelve months ago.
