Egypt T-bill auction, 9 October 2007: 364-day at 7.74%, up 28 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 October 2007, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 7.29% (up 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 7.63% (up 19 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.74% (up 28 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 10.6bn against EGP 5.0bn on offer, 212% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 7.44% to 10.21%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.72%, so the government is paying 198 basis points less than twelve months ago.
