Egypt T-bill auction, 25 September 2007: 364-day at 7.44%, down 46 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 25 September 2007, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 7.07% (down 34 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.44% (down 46 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 6.5bn against EGP 1.5bn on offer, 434% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.5bn was accepted.
At 7.44%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 48 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.56%, so the government is paying 213 basis points less than twelve months ago.
