Egypt T-bill auction, 27 March 2007: 364-day at 8.89%, up 4 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 March 2007, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 8.29% (up 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 8.66% (up 19 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.89% (up 4 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 9.8bn against EGP 3.5bn on offer, 280% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.62% to 10.21%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.49%, so the government is paying 41 basis points more than twelve months ago.
