Egypt T-bill auction, 20 March 2007: 364-day at 8.86%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 March 2007, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 8.26% (down 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 8.47% (up 17 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.86% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 9.7bn against EGP 5.0bn on offer, 193% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.62% to 10.21%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.12%, so the government is paying 74 basis points more than twelve months ago.
