Egypt T-bill auction, 29 November 2005: 91-day at 9.10%, down 13 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 November 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.10% (down 13 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 9.10% (down 10 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 6.2bn against EGP 2.0bn on offer, 308% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 7.86% to 10.19%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 10.40%, so the government is paying 129 basis points less than twelve months ago.
