At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 November 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 364-day bill at 9.20% (down 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 4.6bn against EGP 1.0bn on offer, 457% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.17% to 11.20%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.51%, so the government is paying 231 basis points less than twelve months ago.
