Egypt T-bill auction, 6 December 2005: 364-day at 8.99%, down 21 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 December 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 8.81% (down 29 basis points), the 182-day bill at 8.78% (down 32 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.99% (down 21 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 12.0bn against EGP 3.0bn on offer, 399% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.17% to 11.07%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.20%, so the government is paying 221 basis points less than twelve months ago.
