Egypt T-bill auction, 2 August 2005: 91-day at 9.40%, up 43 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 August 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.40% (up 43 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 9.77% (up 12 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 4.4bn against EGP 1.5bn on offer, 291% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 7.86% to 11.13%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 11.23%, so the government is paying 184 basis points less than twelve months ago.
