Egypt T-bill auction, 26 July 2005: 364-day at 9.39%, up 60 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 July 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 9.65% (up 56 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.39% (up 60 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 5.8bn against EGP 2.5bn on offer, 232% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.17% to 12.39%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.19%, so the government is paying 280 basis points less than twelve months ago.
