Egypt T-bill auction, 19 July 2005: 364-day at 8.79%, up 62 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 July 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 8.97% (up 39 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.10% (up 119 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.79% (up 62 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 10.3bn against EGP 4.0bn on offer, 258% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.17% to 12.39%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.67%, so the government is paying 288 basis points less than twelve months ago.
