Egypt T-bill auction, 22 March 2005: 182-day at 10.49%, up 32 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 March 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 10.49% (up 32 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 1.4bn against EGP 750m on offer, 184% of the amount sought, and EGP 750m was accepted.
Over the past year the 182-day rate has ranged from 8.70% to 11.84%.
A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 7.91%, so the government is paying 258 basis points more than twelve months ago.
