Egypt T-bill auction, 12 October 2004: 91-day at 10.92%, up 19 bps

At the Treasury bill auction dated 12 October 2004, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.92% (up 19 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 11.41% (up 37 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.

The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 5.8bn against EGP 3.9bn on offer, 148% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.9bn was accepted.

Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 6.73% to 11.28%.

A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 6.86%, so the government is paying 407 basis points more than twelve months ago.
