Tanzania T-bill auction, 12 August 2026: 364-day at 6.74%, down 28 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 12 August 2026, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.44% (up 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.18% (up 40 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.74% (down 28 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 496.1bn against TZS 238.8bn on offer, 208% of the amount sought, and TZS 228.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.20% to 7.12%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.85%, so the government is paying 110 basis points less than twelve months ago.
