Tanzania T-bill auction, 22 April 2026: 364-day at 5.66%, down 13 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 April 2026, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.97% (down 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.36% (down 21 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 5.66% (down 13 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 410.0bn against TZS 185.0bn on offer, 222% of the amount sought, and TZS 195.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.20% to 9.13%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.93%, so the government is paying 328 basis points less than twelve months ago.
