Tanzania T-bill auction, 8 April 2026: 364-day at 5.78%, up 59 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 April 2026, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 4.08% (down 8 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.57% (down 21 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 5.78% (up 59 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 257.5bn against TZS 185.0bn on offer, 139% of the amount sought, and TZS 195.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.20% to 9.13%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.48%, so the government is paying 369 basis points less than twelve months ago.
