Tanzania T-bill auction, 14 May 2025: 364-day at 9.13%, up 22 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 May 2025, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 8.33% (down 15 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.13% (up 22 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 58.0bn against TZS 105.7bn on offer, 55% of the amount sought, and TZS 55.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.75% to 12.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.61%, so the government is paying 52 basis points more than twelve months ago.
