Tanzania T-bill auction, 9 April 2025: 364-day at 8.93%, down 54 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 April 2025, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.50% (up 5 basis points), the 182-day bill at 8.47% (up 21 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.93% (down 54 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 141.6bn against TZS 107.6bn on offer, 132% of the amount sought, and TZS 141.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.75% to 12.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.81%, so the government is paying 187 basis points less than twelve months ago.
