Tanzania T-bill auction, 29 January 2025: 364-day at 12.48%, down 30 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 January 2025, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 8.26% (up 13 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.48% (down 30 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 181.1bn against TZS 105.7bn on offer, 171% of the amount sought, and TZS 174.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.75% to 12.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.81%, so the government is paying 67 basis points more than twelve months ago.
