Tanzania T-bill auction, 14 August 2024: 364-day at 10.43%, up 115 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 August 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 10.43% (up 115 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 66.4bn against TZS 120.5bn on offer, 55% of the amount sought, and TZS 50.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.75% to 12.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 6.93%, so the government is paying 350 basis points more than twelve months ago.
