Tanzania T-bill auction, 26 July 2023: 364-day at 6.97%, down 10 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 July 2023, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 5.85% (down 9 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.97% (down 10 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 155.7bn against TZS 142.6bn on offer, 109% of the amount sought, and TZS 118.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.26% to 7.22%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 4.52%, so the government is paying 245 basis points more than twelve months ago.
