Tanzania T-bill auction, 7 September 2022: 364-day at 4.76%, up 50 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 September 2022, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.00% (up 23 basis points), the 182-day bill at 4.08% (up 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 4.76% (up 50 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 206.8bn against TZS 152.2bn on offer, 136% of the amount sought, and TZS 152.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 3.19% to 5.10%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 3.81%, so the government is paying 95 basis points more than twelve months ago.
