Tanzania T-bill auction, 24 August 2022: 364-day at 4.26%, down 19 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 August 2022, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 4.04% (up 148 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 4.26% (down 19 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 113.0bn against TZS 114.5bn on offer, 99% of the amount sought, and TZS 108.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 3.19% to 5.10%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 3.86%, so the government is paying 39 basis points more than twelve months ago.
