Tanzania T-bill auction, 22 September 2021: 364-day at 3.62%, down 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 September 2021, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 3.62% (down 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 12.3bn against TZS 72.9bn on offer, 17% of the amount sought, and TZS 12.3bn was accepted.
At 3.62%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 26 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 3.93%, so the government is paying 31 basis points less than twelve months ago.
