Tanzania T-bill auction, 8 September 2021: 364-day at 3.70%, down 11 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 September 2021, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 3.05% (down 11 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 3.70% (down 11 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 12.1bn against TZS 76.0bn on offer, 16% of the amount sought, and TZS 12.1bn was accepted.
At 3.70%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 26 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 3.97%, so the government is paying 27 basis points less than twelve months ago.
