Tanzania T-bill auction, 11 August 2021: 364-day at 3.86%, down 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 August 2021, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 2.02% (down 98 basis points), the 182-day bill at 3.20% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 3.86% (down 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 88.6bn against TZS 77.4bn on offer, 114% of the amount sought, and TZS 60.5bn was accepted.
At 3.86%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 26 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 4.00%, so the government is paying 13 basis points less than twelve months ago.
