Tanzania T-bill auction, 14 July 2021: 364-day at 4.07%, down 75 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 July 2021, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.00% (down 30 basis points), the 182-day bill at 3.50% (down 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 4.07% (down 75 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 131.5bn against TZS 77.4bn on offer, 170% of the amount sought, and TZS 76.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 3.93% to 6.02%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 4.70%, so the government is paying 63 basis points less than twelve months ago.
