Tanzania T-bill auction, 17 March 2021: 364-day at 5.97%, up 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 March 2021, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 5.97% (up 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 52.7bn against TZS 71.0bn on offer, 74% of the amount sought, and TZS 52.7bn was accepted.
At 5.97%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 23 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 5.49%, so the government is paying 48 basis points more than twelve months ago.
