Tanzania T-bill auction, 2 September 2020: 364-day at 3.97%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 September 2020, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 3.97% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 64.5bn against TZS 84.5bn on offer, 76% of the amount sought, and TZS 19.0bn was accepted.
At 3.97%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 23 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.50%, so the government is paying 353 basis points less than twelve months ago.
