Tanzania T-bill auction, 4 March 2020: 364-day at 5.49%, down 21 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 March 2020, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 5.49% (down 21 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 106.2bn against TZS 101.5bn on offer, 105% of the amount sought, and TZS 97.8bn was accepted.
At 5.49%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 26 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.26%, so the government is paying 378 basis points less than twelve months ago.
