Tanzania T-bill auction, 11 December 2019: 364-day at 5.94%, up 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 December 2019, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 5.94% (up 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 60.2bn against TZS 101.5bn on offer, 59% of the amount sought, and TZS 60.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.87% to 9.35%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.74%, so the government is paying 280 basis points less than twelve months ago.
