Tanzania T-bill auction, 7 August 2019: 364-day at 7.91%, down 26 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 August 2019, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 4.38% (up 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.19% (down 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.91% (down 26 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 294.4bn against TZS 106.2bn on offer, 277% of the amount sought, and TZS 103.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 7.90% to 9.35%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.06%, so the government is paying 15 basis points less than twelve months ago.
