Tanzania T-bill auction, 26 June 2019: 364-day at 9.05%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 June 2019, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 4.39% (up 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.19% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.05% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 79.6bn against TZS 140.4bn on offer, 57% of the amount sought, and TZS 69.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 7.29% to 9.35%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 5.64%, so the government is paying 341 basis points more than twelve months ago.
