Tanzania T-bill auction, 17 April 2019: 364-day at 9.08%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 April 2019, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 4.13% (up 8 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.38% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.08% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 171.2bn against TZS 140.0bn on offer, 122% of the amount sought, and TZS 121.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.12% to 9.35%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 5.09%, so the government is paying 399 basis points more than twelve months ago.
