Tanzania T-bill auction, 24 December 2018: 364-day at 9.30%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 December 2018, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 5.27% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.30% (up 15 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 142.0bn against TZS 137.0bn on offer, 104% of the amount sought, and TZS 127.3bn was accepted.
At 9.30%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 27 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.98%, so the government is paying 32 basis points more than twelve months ago.
