Tanzania T-bill auction, 21 August 2018: 364-day at 8.16%, up 10 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 August 2018, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 2.93% (down 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 5.33% (up 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.16% (up 10 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 162.7bn against TZS 140.0bn on offer, 116% of the amount sought, and TZS 137.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.12% to 11.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.88%, so the government is paying 272 basis points less than twelve months ago.
