Tanzania T-bill auction, 2 December 2015: 364-day at 18.86%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 December 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 9.35% (down 71 basis points), the 182-day bill at 16.96% (up 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.86% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 196.2bn against TZS 74.0bn on offer, 265% of the amount sought, and TZS 119.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 18.87%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.90%, so the government is paying 396 basis points more than twelve months ago.
