Tanzania T-bill auction, 9 September 2015: 364-day at 14.34%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 September 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 8.22% (up 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.68% (up 17 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.34% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 207.1bn against TZS 147.0bn on offer, 141% of the amount sought, and TZS 200.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.05%, so the government is paying 29 basis points more than twelve months ago.
