Tanzania T-bill auction, 26 August 2015: 364-day at 14.34%, down 22 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 August 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 8.18% (up 24 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.51% (down 17 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.34% (down 22 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 278.8bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 211% of the amount sought, and TZS 257.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.72%, so the government is paying 38 basis points less than twelve months ago.
