Tanzania T-bill auction, 6 May 2015: 364-day at 10.92%, up 72 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 May 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 6.86% (up 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 10.52% (up 78 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.92% (up 72 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 126.1bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 96% of the amount sought, and TZS 83.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.33%, so the government is paying 241 basis points less than twelve months ago.
