Tanzania T-bill auction, 22 April 2015: 364-day at 10.20%, down 17 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 April 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 6.85% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 9.74% (down 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.20% (down 17 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 228.2bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 173% of the amount sought, and TZS 47.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.32%, so the government is paying 312 basis points less than twelve months ago.
