Tanzania T-bill auction, 31 July 2014: 364-day at 14.72%, up 89 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 31 July 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 12.39% (down 18 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.00% (up 66 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.72% (up 89 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 95.1bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 72% of the amount sought, and TZS 49.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 15.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.90%, so the government is paying 18 basis points less than twelve months ago.
