Tanzania T-bill auction, 9 April 2014: 364-day at 13.32%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 April 2014, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 12.16% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 13.22% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 13.32% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 216.1bn against TZS 130.0bn on offer, 166% of the amount sought, and TZS 132.1bn was accepted.
At 13.32%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 26 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.64%, so the government is paying 32 basis points less than twelve months ago.
